Need Help Paying Your Utilities?
Starting March 1, 2026, only property owners can establish new utility billing accounts in the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Only accounts established after March 1, 2026, are impacted by this new ordinance; current tenant accounts remain unchanged unless service is disconnected. If service is disconnected, it can only be reestablished by the property owner. Once accounts are established by property owners, tenants can receive bills “in care of” the property owner.

Account holders (new or reconnected) are required to provide a copy of settlement papers, appropriate deposit, picture identification and Social Security Number or Federal ID Number, if applicable.
All bills are due within 25 days of the billing date. A one percent per month late payment penalty is assessed on all outstanding balances.
