Fort Lauderdale, Fla – The City of Fort Lauderdale is proud to announce that not only will the Business Engagement Assistance & Mentorship (BEAMs) Academy be offered in April 2021; there will be preliminary courses beginning in January to give a taste of what is to come. The best part of all is a three-part series which are FREE to those who sign up – yep, that is right – FREE!
The City of Fort Lauderdale, Economic and Community Investment Division (ECI) created BEAMs to support businesses at all life cycles, from start-up to successful growth and expansion. Over 500,000 small businesses open monthly in the United States, accounting for 65% of all U.S. employment growth. In Broward County, 81% of all businesses have less than ten employees; 67% have less than five.
Given the ongoing health pandemic, we will be hosting the series virtually. The City’s ECI Division has chosen to partner with a local Broward County organization called SCORE Broward. SCORE is a 300 Chapter, nationwide nonprofit organization serving to build a more resilient entrepreneurial community and economy. Beginning in January 2021, we will host the following teaser courses.
January 19, 2021 – Website Planning: Take Your First Step to Website Success
February 25, 2021 – Become a Master of Marketing
March 23, 2021 – Social Networks and Marketing Opportunities it Offers
The BEAMs program will begin the “Solid Foundations” series on Monday, April 26, 2021. The initial series will feature four parts, in which new businesses are provided nuggets of useful information to be successful in their first year. If the student successfully completes the series, they will be issued a certificate and may even get a new year surprise from the City’s ECI Division.

May 10, 2021 – It’s All About Growing: Grow Your Sales Skills, Grow Your Business
